The Pacifica High School Library Media program is fully integrated into the school's curriculum and is central to the learning process of all students. The program promotes student academic achievement towards meeting state content standards and ensures that students and staff can effectively use and access ideas and information. Current up-to-date information, in the form of print materials and online resources, is available to students and staff.
The Teacher Librarian, through collaboration and facilitation, empowers the school community to be enthusiastic readers, creative and critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of a wide variety of information. The Library Media Center is a welcoming environment where students and staff feel safe and are encouraged to try something new, make a connection, ask for support, and read for pleasure.
The primary objective of the school Library Media Center is to support the educational programs and goals of the school and district. Achievement of this objective requires: developing avid and capable readers; creating a partnership among the Teacher Librarian, district personnel, school administration, teachers, students, and parents; enhancing learning through the use of technology; demonstrating a commitment to information access and respect for diversity; and building information literacy skills.
